First Impression - YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog.  For this post I have a very special piece of info to share with you guys.  This will be a first impressions on a high end mascara that I am still surprised to have received.

I was "invited" to enroll into Influenster's community in order to receive and review products and this time I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.  This is one of the very few high end, full size mascaras that I have owned and lets get started.

YSL decided to reformulate one of their most iconic products and changed the formula in order to have a new Lash Care formula. It claims that it will give you intense volume, intense color and, now, intense care. It contains B5 Pro-Vitamin that will strengthen and proctect the lashes.

This mascara can be purchased where ever YSL is sold and for reference, price is around $32.00. It comes in 6 colors, at least that is what I was able to see on Sephora's website (I use it as a reference most of the time): Black 1, Brown 2, Blue 3, Purple 4, Burgundy 5, and Deepnight 6.

Before I get to the packaging and the mascara itself, let me just show you the neat card that came with it. It has the beautiful Cara Delevigne on it and also it shows the eye shadow palette that they are launching:

Now, let's talk about the packaging.  It is stunning, sooo luxurious. It has a certain weight to it that helps you have a better grip of the wand.

It is such a pretty gold tube with the YSL logo on the front. Sorry that my picture is not the best, is just that the flash reflected so much on the tube that it looks orange. When you shut it close you will notice sort of a "click" and the logo will be perfectly aligned.

Now, lets take a look to the wand:

The brush is a very nice sized brush, not extremely big or too skinny. It will help to give volume and length to the lashes without making them look clumpy.

I will show you a couple pictures of my eyes with and without the mascara.

So, you can see my eyes without any makeup and no curled lashes, only eye shadow primer and, yes, my big brows as I like them.

Here you see that I have decently long lashes, so length is not too much of a concern for me.

The last few pictures are with the mascara on. As show, it gave me volume and additional length. My lashes look so long that the tips almost touch my brows, that's amazing!! Also, my lashes tend to clump and this mascara didn't do that, at least for now. No crunchiness and it has that nice YSL scent that most of their products have. The only bad thing that I have found, so far, is that the scent lingers (I put the mascara on around 6:30 a.m. today and it is 10:30 a.m. and I can smell it).

So far, I am really liking this mascara. I just hope it will not transfer but I will let you know.

Thank you for stopping by and for reading my post.  I'll see you on the next one!

Quick Update: It's now 5:30 p.m., mascara has been on for about 11 hours total. No flaking, no smudging, no crunchiness. My lashes feel very soft, look very black, and very long. My only problem is the scent that will not go away and it makes me a little dizzy but that will not make me not use it.

That'll be all for now. Thank you for stopping by!

A Little Fashion Post

So I'm not fashion-y at all. I like what I like and sometimes that does not work/adjust to my body type which is like "hourglass-y but chubby" and I have to look for pieces that not only match or coordinate with one another but also that fit me well and does not make me look like a fool, like a 40 year trying to look half her age.  So, that being said, for a casual Friday, I chose a pair of kind of lose fit jeans from Estampa (got them for $12), an olive green tank top, olive green jacket from Berksha (bought it like 3 years ago) so they "match" and create a military-ish vibe, a regular black belt, and a pair of gold-nude loafers, so comfortable that I just can't put them down. Now some more detail pics so you can take a closer look and enjoy.  See ya next time!

Review: Boscia Skin Care

Review: Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation
